At B1 you are expected to do more than say j'aime or je n'aime pas. You need to state an opinion clearly, justify it with a reason, and react to what others say by agreeing or disagreeing. This is exactly the kind of connected speech that the speaking sections of the TEF and TCF Canada reward.

Grammar: opinion phrases
Most opinion phrases are followed by que and a verb in the indicative: Je pense que c'est utile. But when the opinion is in the negative or a question, doubt creeps in and French switches to the subjunctive: Je ne pense pas que ce soit utile. A safe, very natural shortcut is to follow the phrase with de plus an infinitive when the subject is the same: Je trouve important de voter.

Grammar: concession connectors
To sound balanced and convincing, you should admit the other side before defending yours. Concession connectors do this work: mais (but), pourtant (yet), cependant (however), en revanche (on the other hand), and même si + indicative (even if / even though). A typical B1 move: C'est vrai que c'est cher, mais ça en vaut la peine.
