Article and public post (TCF Task 2)
Task 2 of the TCF Canada writing test asks you to write a short text destined for a wide audience: an article for a blog or a magazine, a post on a forum, or a public message on a website. Unlike Task 1, which is a personal message, Task 2 is semi-public: you address strangers, you describe a situation and you share your point of view. The expected length is about 120 to 150 words, and you have roughly twenty minutes for it.
The structure is almost always the same: a title that names the topic, a short introduction that presents the situation, a body in two or three connected ideas, and a closing line that invites the reader to react. Because the text is read by people you do not know, the register is usually standard or formal, never the slang you would use with a friend.

Grammar: register and word-count control
The grader rewards a consistent register. For a public article, keep vous when you address the reader, avoid contractions like j'sais pas, and replace familiar words (un truc, super, les gens) with neutral ones (un élément, vraiment, la population). Stay under control on length: a text that is too short loses points for content, and one that is too long wastes time and adds mistakes. Aim for the middle of the range and count your words quickly at the end.
