Numbers and age
Numbers run through everything: prices, times, dates, phone numbers and your age. Learn 0 to 69 first; the tens are vingt (20), trente (30), quarante (40), cinquante (50), soixante (60). Between them you simply add the unit: vingt-deux, trente-sept. Note the special vingt et un (21), trente et un (31).

Giving your age
Here is the most important rule of this lesson: in French you have your age, you do not be it. Say J'ai trente ans (lit. I have thirty years), never « je suis trente ». To ask: Quel âge avez-vous ? (formal) or Tu as quel âge ? (informal).
