Travel is one of the most common situations in the TEF and TCF listening sections. At a station or airport you have to understand announcements, ask for practical information (times, platforms, gates, prices) and react quickly. The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, so once you know it, these clips become easy points.

Grammar: to / in a country (à, en, au)
When you say where you travel, the preposition depends on the word. Use en for feminine countries and those starting with a vowel: en France, en Italie, en Iran. Use au for masculine countries: au Canada, au Portugal. Use aux for plural countries: aux États-Unis. For cities, use à: à Paris, à Montréal.

Grammar: the pronoun en (quantity)
The pronoun en replaces a quantity to avoid repeating the noun. For Vous avez des bagages ? you answer Oui, j'en ai deux. (I have two of them). It often appears with a number or a word of quantity: J'en prends un. (I'll take one). Do not confuse this en with the preposition en France.
