Time and dates
Times, days and dates run through the listening test, appointments, schedules, opening hours. To ask the time: Quelle heure est-il ? To answer, start with Il est + the hour: Il est trois heures. Add et quart (quarter past), et demie (half past), moins le quart (quarter to).

Days and dates
Days and months are not capitalised in French: lundi, janvier. A date is le + number + month: le 5 juillet. The first of the month is special: le 1er (premier) mai. To say what day it is: Nous sommes lundi or On est lundi.
