Writing an informal email
An informal email is one you send to a friend, a family member or someone you know well. The tone is relaxed, you use tu, and the layout is simpler than a formal letter. Even relaxed, a good email still follows a clear order: a greeting, an opening line, the message, a closing and a sign-off. Knowing this shape lets you write quickly and clearly.

The layout
Start with a short greeting like Salut Marie, or Coucou, followed by a comma. Add a friendly opening such as J'espère que tu vas bien. Then write your message in short paragraphs. Finish with a warm closing like À bientôt ! and sign with your first name. You do not need an address or a date as in a letter.

Grammar: connectors
Connectors link your ideas so the email flows. Use et (and), mais (but), parce que (because), donc (so), d'abord (first), puis (then) and enfin (finally). They turn a list of short sentences into a real message. For example: Je suis libre samedi, donc on peut se voir.
